“Dinks”

Clearly, we’re rulebreakers…

That “Dink” thing, explained:

Put simply, “Dink” stands for dual-income, no kids.  It should be mentioned that kids are great!  They’re a blast, fun to spoil, impressionable, inspiring, and best of all, we aren’t responsible for any.  To be blunt, there are enough people on the planet and we didn’t find it necessary to sacrifice our freedoms in order to contribute to our growing population.  There are obvious setbacks: Who’s going to change our diapers when we are too old and decrepit to take care of ourselves?  Later in life, will we regret not having offspring we can teach and (attempt to) shape into contributing members in our society?  Although we don’t have answers for these questions now, we’re confident we’ve made the right choice and things will work out as they were intended.

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we’ve all grown a little too comfortable in our Western way of living.  The things we take for granted are considered a luxury in other parts of the world.  Instead of following society’s typical plan for married couples and contributing to the population boom, we’re aiming for more of a minimalist lifestyle that allows us to focus our time on pursuing our goals. We’re constantly seeking ways to challenge ourselves, while experiencing as many places and cultures as possible. For us, kids just weren’t a part of that equation.

One of the major advantages of the dink lifestyle is we have more time and disposable income to be selfish.  Yes, some may use that exact term to describe what we’re doing.  Being selfish.  We’d prefer to look at it like we have all this free time and “extra” income, so we’re doing our best broaden our horizons while narrowing our environmental impact. This is simply our opinion and is not meant to be disrespectful towards anyone with an opposing viewpoint.
